Dust Suppression System in Mines
Mining dust can cause serious issues. In order to keep track of it, dust control systems are often put in place to protect not only the workers, but also residents in the surrounding area. Dust control in mines is particularly important and the Mine Safety and Health Administration is the federal agency charged with the enforcement of standards that protect miners from exposure to nuisance and hazardous dusts. Dust can also cause lung diseases. Particularly hazardous is dust less than 10 microns in diameter because it tends to become trapped in the alveoli of the lungs and is not exhaled as are large particles.
